Well, The World Is Just Full of Surprises…

Retro. The Final Frontier.

These are the voyages of the Starship Griggerprise. Her continuing mission to explore very well known old worlds, to seek out old games, and old civilisations, and to boldly go where millions have gone before.

And yet, there are still surprises. Because even though I guarantee you I lived through the 90s I completely overlooked this little number. I’ve merrily gone through the last decade thinking that’s SEGA’s first foray into 3rd party development was post-Dreamcast when they rolled out the back catalogue onto every unsuspecting platform known to man.

Looking at these pics I’m not sure how aware I was that this game was so much like Sonic 2. I probably would have gotten it otherwise. Although I do remember sitting in my car in Eastbourne, money at the ready to buy a NGP… but then I think I had some anxiety fuelled situation going on and couldn’t bring myself to go into town and interact with ‘normals’. I missed a few games coz of that. Then I seem to remember the GBA launching and the Neo Geo being resigned to a sad looking shelf in the back of Electronics Boutique and I forgot all about it. Quite want one now.

I do remember that you were able to link it up to the Dreamcast, though what purpose that had escapes my memory now.

No doubt something completely pointless – I can’t imagine it could have done much more than the vmu. But pointless or not I’ve still always wanted to do that stuff. Surprisingly attractive feature of wii u… What does vita/PSP do when you link up to playstation ?!
